How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. A program appears under a subject only through a verified link (dedicated degree, major, concentration or documented pathway). A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.

About art education in France

How art education is organised

Public art schools in France (écoles supérieures d'art, many under the Ministry of Culture) award national diplomas: the DNA (Diplôme national d'art) after three years at licence grade, and the DNSEP (Diplôme national supérieur d'expression plastique) after five years at master grade. Universities such as Paris 1 offer licence and master degrees in arts plastiques, and practice-based doctorates exist, for example the SACRe PSL doctorate linked to EnsAD.

Qualification structures

Names and levels are local to France. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.

DNA (licence grade)
First-cycle national art diploma of three years, called a bachelor's degree in English by EnsAD and recognised at the grade of Licence by Nantes. Source
DNSEP (master grade)
Second-cycle national diploma at the end of year five, described by Bourges as level I of the professional certification conferring the grade of master. Source
Licence and Master (university)
Universities such as Paris 1 list a Licence and a Master in Arts plastiques and a doctorate in Arts et sciences de l'art. Source

Bodies that matter, and what each one does

Accreditation, validation, education authority and qualification registers are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.

French Ministry of Culture
EnsAD states it is a public school under the authority of the Ministry of Culture.

Credits and qualification framework

EnsAD reports 300 ECTS for its master's degree and 60 ECTS for the first year.

No degree on this site guarantees admission, funding, employment, a visa or teacher registration, and nothing here is visa or credit-transfer advice.

Admissions and portfolios. Entry to first year at many national schools is by competitive entrance exam; for example Beaux-Arts de Paris used Parcoursup for 2026/27 with a letter of intent, a portfolio and a test day. Check each school's current year. Source
